Medicine Rattle

Medicine Shakers made by the Keche Mayan women of Belize. 
 
Medicine shakers are an extremley important aspect of curanderismo and other healing traditions of the diaspora. The rattle is used both to make music while offering songs to the plant allies during harvest ceremonies but also for divination to clear and cleanse the space of the practitioner. The rattle is also used to call the spirit of the practitioner to the for front as well as those who are being divined upon. 
 
This rattle is made by the Indigenous Keche Mayan peoples.
